Teaching
I have explored classic texts on education and discussed with teachers the nature of the university. In my readings, liberal education in the classical sense has emerged as both noble and practical—not on a mammoth, modern, “change the world” level, but on an individual, transformational, discipleship level. Therefore, whether I positively influence two students or two million, I will consider my career worthwhile.
Perhaps I will guide others to view honestly some small thread of reality's tapestry. Perhaps I will help a student understand an important idea, or introduce him to a book that enflames his passion for learning.
Discover how recent experiences guided me toward academia, and learn more about my vision for pedagogy.

Exploration
I am a firm believer in "learning by doing." Therefore, I took a job with the Intercollegiate Studies Institute after completing college. With a widely varied mixture of duties--from conceiving an academic lecture, to generating student interest in reading groups, to planning the details of a large conference--this position has taught me how to turn ideas into reality.
Good grades are not enough to lead an effective life; one must also possess practical know-how and confidence. Armed now with an understanding of how the big picture coincides with logistics, I'm enthusiastic about this working period and beyond. In particular, I am excited about what I can accomplish in academia. Because my responsibilities take me to college campuses around the nation, I've gathered ideas from myriad college environments.
The journey didn't stop with my college diploma. For the rest of my life, I will continue gathering experiences and adventures--not just for my pleasure, but also for the greater goals toward which I strive. Wherever I am, small town or big city, home or far away, each day is an event that deserves appreciation. I look forward to where the path leads!
